Groups & Events Manager
As a Groups & Events Manager you are the commercial representative for the Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam. You will manage the G&E team, budgets, our sales goals and you know better than anyone how to organize a major event. The Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam is one of the largest hotels in Amsterdam and offers a lot of possibilities with 490 hotel rooms, a ballroom of 900m2 with a total of 1.200 m2 of meeting space. In addition to your position at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam, you will also be responsible within the G&E cluster for our hotels in the Benelux. Therefore you will have a lot of contact with the G&E Managers of our other Leonardo Hotels. Are you ready for the challenge?
WHAT DOES YOUR DAY AS A GROUPS & EVENTS MANAGER LOOK LIKE?
You are the head of the Groups & Events department in the Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam. You will lead an international team of 2 Senior G&E Executives, 2 G&E Executives and an intern. You are responsible for the business groups & MICE reservations.
You oversee the overall booking process of this department and you are constantly looking for opportunities to maximize revenue. You will be doing this by keeping up-to-date with the current market trends and looking for ways to improve customer satisfaction! The Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam is opening in April 2019 which means there is still plenty of room for your own input. Managing an international team? You know like no other exactly how to do this best and are able to take their performance and commitment to the next level.
A FEW REPSONSIBILITIES:
- Developing, in consultation with the Head of MICE & Group Reservations Benelux, the hotels' groups and MICE strategy in line with Leonardo Hotels' corporate strategy and leading its implementation.
- Applying yield management related to groups and events in collaboration with the Revenue Department.
- Develop and (manage) the Groups & Events team to maximize their performance and engagement.
- Handle buy-out and complex requests in Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam in terms of sales and planning (booking process); qualify, prepare proposal, convert business, review addendums, plan events and ensure financial settlement is in order.
- Oversee the booking processes of the Groups & Event department, identifying issues and making proposals for improvement.
WHAT MAKES YOU THE PERFECT CANDIDATE?
- You have at least 2 years of experience in Event Management.
- You have an HBO working and thinking level and preferably a Hospitality related education (Hotel or Facility Management).
- You have experience with large MICE groups.
- Experience with Opera Sales & Catering is a plus.
- You have good knowledge of the Dutch and English language both verbally and in writing.
- You have a creative and positive mindset and 'you don't take "no" for an answer'.
- You are professional, service-oriented and a real team-player!
- You have good international communication skills and make new contacts easily and quickly.
- You can think strategically, have insight in figures and you are a true leader.
SHARED OFFICE
This position is part of our Groups & Events team in cluster Amsterdam where we are collectively responsible for groups and events at Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam, Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark, Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel and Leonardo Hotel Vinkeveen Amsterdam.
The current Groups & Events team in Amsterdam consists of 18 employees and 2 interns and reports to the Head of MICE & Group Reservations Benelux. This team is part of our Shared Offices in Amsterdam. The employees of our Shared Offices perform activities related to their discipline. Both Sales (including Groups & Events), Marketing, Revenue, Finance and Human Resources are centralized and work overarching for the hotels in the Benelux. A fixed workplace? We do not have one! The employees of these departments regularly visit the various hotels and occasionally work in the Shared Office at Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark. Not a day looks the same, which makes the work varied and challenging!
